The short version: your race data never leaves your PC. Pacedex works fully without an account and collects no race telemetry. The app sends a few anonymous technical numbers so we can count active installs and fix bugs — and you can turn even that off. An optional account (email only) is available if you want cloud features.
What stays on your PC
Everything the game produces: telemetry, laps, sessions, setups, radio messages. It is stored in a local SQLite database in your user folder and is never uploaded.
Optional account
Creating an account is opt-in and never required — the app is fully functional without one. If you sign in, we store only your e-mail address (to identify your account) on Cloudflare infrastructure. Sign-in is passwordless: we e-mail you a short code. We do not upload your racing or telemetry data by creating an account. You can sign out at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and e-mail at box@pacedex.com.
What the app sends (anonymous)
Each install generates a random ID (a UUID) that is not linked to your name, e-mail or gamertag — we couldn't identify you from it if we tried. With that ID the app sends:
- Heartbeat — when checking for updates: app version, interface language and operating system. Used to count active installs per version.
- Diagnostics — technical health of the app: whether telemetry packets are arriving, which UDP port is in use, packet-decoding health, voice-engine status. Used to fix problems (e.g. "installed but receives nothing").
- Community benchmark — aggregated performance numbers only (e.g. tyre life per track). Stored as averages; no lap-by-lap data.
Turning it off
Set "stats": false in overlay_config.json (or the environment variable PACEDEX_NO_STATS=1). The app then sends nothing — the update check still downloads the public version file, without any ID.
This website
pacedex.com uses cookie-less analytics by default. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (which use cookies) load only after you accept the consent banner.
Where data lives
The anonymous numbers above are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure. As with any web service, connection metadata (such as IP addresses) is processed transiently by Cloudflare to deliver the service; we do not store IPs with the stats.
Children
Pacedex is not directed at children. Without an account it collects no personal data; the only personal data we ever store is the e-mail of users who choose to create an account.
